Presentation Handout

Students will present on Thursday, and will cover the entire week. Presentations should take at least 6 minutes per student. The content of your presentation is similar to that of your weekly response paper. You should answer the key questions in your presentation, in addition to any relevant information/comments you think appropriate. Your response-presentation paper will need to be at least 2 pages (typed, double spaced, 12 point font, inch margin) and should clearly answer the Key Questions. (The paper does not need to be in essay format.)

Key Questions:

1. What was the reading / film about? (Main thesis, author’s purpose, etc. Include page numbers.)
2. How does the readings / film relate to our study of Ethnic Studies history and culture?
3. How does the readings / film relate to other class readings? Do they share similar points of view, or do they contest the information presented in other readings / films?
4. What type of information might be missing (or was deliberately left out) from the readings / film? How might this information complicate the points of view of the readings / film?
5. How does the content of the readings / film help you understand your world today, if at all? (How is the information relevant to you, and to society in general?)
6. Your personal response. Did you like the readings / film? Why or why not? Do you agree or disagree with the points of view of the author / film?
